Tara (Green Tara)

In Vajrayana Buddhism, Tara ("saviouress") is the supreme savior and goddess of mercy, a female counterpart to Avalokiteshvara said in Tibetan tradition to have been born from his tear of compassion; Green Tara represents active compassion and swift response, especially invoked by travelers and those in danger.
